DayOff demo
Hello!
I'd like to tell you more about this project.
This game is a mix of top-down zombie shooter with elements of the survival horror genre.
Our goal is to immerse the player into the atmosphere of action/horror films of the 80s.
At the moment the demo contains 5 levels and implemented main mechanics.
Implemented mechanics
Interaction with physical objects
All items in the game obey the laws of physics. You can use various objects to make life easier for the character.
Throw bottles at your enemies
move furtniture around and use it as barricades to avoid unnecessary fuss
Some objects are explosive. The explosion can not only kill enemies directly but also give an impulse to objects standing within the radius of destruction. An object with enough impulse can cause damage to both the enemy and the character - be careful. The explosion can detonate other explosive items.
Stealth
All NPCs in this game can see and hear. Any loud sound can attract the attention of the NPC, and the louder the sound, the greater the distance it spreads. Therefore, it is worth thinking several times before making a shot - maybe a silent kill with a knife would be more elegant.
Steps can also anger zombies, so I recommend using the "sneak" key (shift)
If a character gets into the field of view of a zombie, then he starts his hunt. Luckily zombies can't see through walls and other obstructions. Therefore player may try to hide behind cover and lie low. As soon as zombie completely loses its target, it will return to its past affairs.
Melee weapons
For close combat, the character can use fists, as well as a knife and a bat. If the first option is basic, and always available, then the knife and bat deteriorate when the character is using them. After 10 hits, both weapons are destroyed. But they are quite effective and do not make loud sounds. The bat can actually damage multiple enemies with one hit. Stay adventurous and will find melee weapons and other bonuses on the levels.
Ranged weapons
In addition to melee weapons, the character can find and use a pistol, machine gun, and a flamethrower.
These types of weapons are very effective, but the ammo runs out quickly (and zombies will hear the shot sounds)
